Day 22: 31 Days of Halloween

Today I called on the backup team to help out. While I was playing with the dominoes they wanted to join in the fun and this is what they ended up with. To begin wit we colored our dominoes with Faber-Castell metallic colored gel sticks, then smudged it around with the fingertip. Stamped the images, added some bling and then coated with Crystal Lacquer. Now I love Crystal Lacquer and Diamond Glaze but for some reason it never really seems to dry completely for me. I have ornaments I made a year or two ago that, even now, if you press your finger nail into it a dent remains. So I guess I will start using resin for these types of projects...

Yesterday, there was a question whether the eyes glowed in the dark - that would look so cool but I didn't have anything on hand to give it the effect but in the future I will have to find something.

Thanks for all the great comments, don't forget to check out the sidebar bar over there ----> for the rest of the 31 Days of Halloween Blog Hop!

Fabulous trio of altered goodness! The metallic sticks worked well! Thx for linking them up in the DominoART Readers' Gallery! Your issue with the lacquer/glaze is bizarre! The only thing I can think of is that maybe your coat is tooooo thick? I put a lot on mine with no issues but maybe yours is too thick for your climate and its just not curing? Try a thinner coat, let dry and apply another to achieve the same thickness and let me know what happens! Leigh - velvetpawcreations@cox.net

wow! these are great. The little beads on the spiderweb ends and in the exclamation mark - awesome.
I have had problems with glossy accents drying time and decided to use the heat gun - bad move! I found this glow in the dark powder (Recollections- Michaels) but haven't got it onto a project yet. I thought is was an embossing powder and scorched the heck out of my cardstock - oops!

Glad to hear another opinion on what will and won't dry on the dominos. I haven't tried the glossy accents but need to find something. I did try Fimo (the clay) glossy lacquer and it looked amazing but didn't dry within a day or two - haven't checked it lately. Your dominos are so cute!
