Frantic Stamper Sketch 1/22/12

Today I have a sketch card from Frantic Stamper. The image is called Le Pendu from the Cat Tarot line of rubber stamps. The papers are Core'dinations and BoBunny, the ribbon is velvet, not sure where it came from though. The image was colored with copics, I used the blender pen and touch it to the color I wanted to use then colored with the blender. Gives it a light water color like appearance.

The papers are Authentique, the key and frame are from Tattered Angels, the frame was spritz with Frost Blue glimmer and then distressed with Memento Cocoa ink. The image was also colored with copics.

Happy New Years! Today's card features the Elisabeth Bell's Party Time image. Once it was colored I had the thought that I had featured it before, but then the thought crossed my mind that a fantastic image is one that can be used over and over for so many reasons.

Snap shots

Today I have a card I want to share that uses matted images (Elaine Cox's Mirima and Stormy Moon) that I like to call snap shots. Depending on your age, at one point in time or another you have either seen or even used an instant camera that would eject the picture out of the camera. You waited a short time and presto! Your picture was ready. While digitals have taken over the world, I still think an instant camera were marvelous creations - there is no need to run to a computer or kiosk to have it developed. But I digress...to create your own snap shots is very simple.

Cut a piece of white card stock to 3.5 x 4.5, this will be your mat.
For the stamped image you will need another piece of card stock, I want to say white since we are taking a picture, and cut it to 3 x 3.
Stamp and color the image.
Stamp a sentiment on the lower 1" section of the mat (for authenticity hand write it!).
Adhere the two pieces of paper together leaving a .25 border at the top and along the sides of the stamped image.

To finish up the card I am sharing today, I cut a 6 x 6 piece of Prima paper, inked the edges with some brown ink, flipped the Prima paper and cut it to 5.5" and inked those edges and attached the two pieces together, centering. Adhere the snapshots at angles, overlapping. Embellish with a Maya Road satin flower (something I will try and CASE for you sometime) and some Tattered Angels chipboard corners sprayed with a Walnut Gold Glimmer Mist.

Welcome to the Merry Christmas, Lynette Blog Hop! Today, the Sweet Pea Stamps design team are sharing a selection of creations as a surprise to Lynette, owner of Sweet Pea Stamps.

Now if you stopped by a couple weeks ago for our Out of the Box Christmas hop, you will remember this lovely image I featured. Well, I am at again - I just love this set so much!

Today I have used both the Grapevine Frame (Plate #165) and Wings of Love (Plate #131) together. It was colored with copics, the papers are from 7gypsies and core'dinations, the flower is handmade from Webster's Pages goodies. The grapevine rubon is from BoBunny.

The flower is real simple to create. Take a scrap of chipboard - about an inch in size, a piece of pleated trim - I used less than twelve inches and a hot glue gun. After the glue gun is ready, start on the outside of the chipboard and drop a bit of glue. Attach the trim and continue around the perimeter of the chip board scrap. When you come to the beginning of the trim move inward with the glue and continue to adhere the trim until all that is left is a small opening in the center. Attach a button with hot glue over the center and press down. Now you have a sweet little flower.

Welcome to the Sweet Pea Stamps OOTB Christmas Hop!

What is OOTB you may ask? Well it's Out of the Box and that is what we are doing today, stepping out of the box and featuring non-Christmas themed stamps for Christmas projects! We thought it would be a wonderful idea to show you just how versatile Sweet Pea Stamps images can be.

The project I have to share with you today is an altered cd tree ornament featuring Joanne Schempp's Wings of Love:

It is a gorgeous angel and just perfect for Valentine's Day! The frame is available, also, separately so it is a versatile set of stamps to begin with. But Valentine's Day is still a couple months away and I want to make something with it now....but no worries it also doubles as a Christmas Angel. Now the idea for using the image in this manner came from a collage sheet I recently acquired and I just knew I had to try my hand at CASEing it.

To create your own-

Supplies:
Sweet Pea Stamps Wings of Love from the Joanne Schempp collection
Compact Disc
Maroon Card Stock - Micheal Strong
Printed Paper - Webster's Pages
Gold Krylon Paint Pen
Ornate Frame Punch - Unknown
Queen and Co. Pearls
1 yard Gold 1/4" Organdy Ribbon
Prima Holly Leaves
Adhesive
Gold Ranger Stickles
Copic Markers:

Roses RV69, R59 RV42
Gown B000, B00, B01
Skintone E00, E000
White Areas C0, B000, E0000
Hair E33, E35, E27

Directions:

Stamp and color your image.
Trim it out closely, removing the greenery and bow.
Create a slit in both hands and run aribbon through the slits positioning the image about in the middle of the ribbon and leaving plenty of fullness to drape. Set this aside.
Cover a cd with a base paper.
Punch out a frame on black paper and paint with gold paint pen.
Adhere to the cd and cover with printed paper.
Attach holly leaves to the back of the image with glue dots and adhere the image to the center of the frame.
Position the ribbon to flow around the cd, adding glue dots in places not visible.
Trim out the upper corner print (from the same sheet of Webster's Pages paper) and adhere with double sided foam tape (I stacked two pieces for additional height).
Punch a hole in the top of the cd for the ribbon hanger and string through.
Embellish with pearls and finish off with stickles.
Allow to dry before hanging.

Today I thought I would share an ornament with you. It is fairly simple and turns out beautiful! So far I have made about a half of a dozen and have more in the planning stages. This specific ornament is for the Robin's Nest Design Team application. Robin's Nest is a wonderful small business which offers some wonderful embellishments for paper crafting, including the best little creation of all time - Dew Drops! Directions:
Focal Image:

Punch a 3" circle from the white card stock and stamp image, centering.
Color the image.
Using the white ink pen add highlights to the hair.
Smooch is painted over the wings.
Distress the edges of the focal image with cocoa colored ink.
Tap the embossing ink on top of the image and sprinkle with UTEE, tap off excess and heat to set. While still hot, add more UTEE and heat, repeat several more times until there is is a nice heavy, glassy layer of ep on the image.
Cut a piece of colored card stock into a 3.5" circle for a mat and attach the stamped image.

Base:

Print a star at 75% from Coloring Castle and trim out.
Using the star as a pattern cut out a base from chipboard.
For the background paper manipulate the music print to black and white, then sepia (Old sheet music can be substituted.) and print out on white card stock.
Cut out a star using the pattern from the music printed paper and distress the edges with the cocoa ink pad.
Adhere the sheet music to the chipboard with ModPodge.
Fold a piece of tinsel in half, pinch about 1" from the fold and twist. This will be the hanger.
Adhere the tinsel to the edges of the star, with the loop at the top point, with Amazing Goop and allow to dry.

Finishing:

Paint the dew drops with the silver paint and allow to dry.
Adhere a piece of chipboard to the back of the matted image.
Adhere the matted image to the star, centering.
Adhere the dew drops to the mat around the focal image, evenly positioning.
At the bottom of the focal image, adhere the holly leaves, center with the red flower and add a dew drop to the center.
Tie a ribbon at the tip of the top star point.

Here are a few more of the star ornaments I have made using the same techniques, the focal images are collage sheets and vintage ephemera. Add a touch of lace, framing the image and they are just gorgeous!

Micheal Strong Holiday Tag Blog Hop

Welcome to the hop! I hope you enjoy your visit and take some time to look around at some of the other posts here. I sort of got my days confused with some of the other obligations I have and almost missed today's post. But I got my head on straight and came up with this little ditty. I think it turned out awesome. Now I am just wondering who would guess correctly as to the image I used to create the tree? Well, I'll give you a moment to think about and reveal the image end of this post.

So how do you like it?

Now, if you are participating in the scavenger hunt have A good time! Once you have all the letters make a wish and send it in. Also, while I have you here, take a moment to look around there are lots of posts going live today for several great reasons!

So any ideas as to what image I used to create the tree? Well, would you believe it was this wonderful mini hummingbird from Mike's wonderful collection of images?

I stamped the image out about twelve times, trimmed it up (chopping off it's little head) and piecing it all together, came up with a pretty decent Christmas tree, if I say so myself. To create the tag I used a Bazzil Basics chipboard luggage tag, some of the beautiful paper Mike offered last year, sanded the edges and smudged some gold ink all over it. Then I adhered the tree, painted a black chipboard star from Cosmo Cricket with Gold Krylon paint and attached it also. Then I found this gorgeous green velvet ribbon for the tag hole and tied it off. Next, I used some Ranger White Opal Liquid Pearls for the snow on the tree (just filled in the open area of the birds body) and gold stickles for the ornaments, let it all dry and you have this neat tag! I added a hanger to it and found a spot on my tree.

The 31 Days of Halloween - Day 31

Welcome to the final day!! Wow, I can't believe I actually made it. You know 31 projects are a lot, especially when you consider that is probably what I make in a years time, lol. Today I have a super cute project to share, those cool skeletal hands are back, I happened to buy about a dozen of them off Amazon for ten bucks. I think I will CASE those zombie hands in a flower pot with a few next year.

Anyway, I saw these great hair dohickies the other day, I think over at Retro Art Gallery using these hands holding a little cameo. This is my take -

The stamp is from the ching chou kuik collection at Sweet Pea Stamps. I used Amazing Goop Adhesive to hold it all together. To begin with I adhered about six inches of a inexpensive beaded necklace to the hand. I stamped the image on white cardstock, punched it out and also punched another oval from cereal box to adhere it to to sturdy it up. I colored it with copics and then gave it a good coating of Diamond Glaze and allowed it to dry overnight. The next day I attached some ecru, ruffled lace around the oval on the backside and adhered it to the palm of the hand. On the back of the hand I attaced a sturdy rubberband and allowed it all to dry overnight.

The 31 Days of Halloween - Day 29

At the beginning of the hop there were several wonderful coffin projects and I wanted some of them so much. But living out in the middle of nowhere I thought I was doomed to go without. But then I came across the site called instructables and found a coffin pattern. Now I can have them whenever I want!

This one was printed on white card stock. I stamped the Smeared Ink spider webs over the top and then colored the paper with copics (my favorite colors for wood are sepia, chamois and sand). I have a skeleton collage sheet from Retro Art Gallery that worked perfectly. He is a bit bigger than the coffin but I think he looks better than the small one that would fit.

I think he may make a great addition to a Halloween wreath someday. ttfn!

The 31 Days of Halloween - Day 28

Today I have a Witch's Secret Force Vessel to share with you. This is a very special container forged from the witch's bloodstone, created to hold her special power once she has moved on to the next plane. To create this vessel the very stone from the table which the witch worked til her fingers bled, toiled, and practiced her magic is carved into small slabs and formed into the vessel shortly before her demise. A spell is cast upon it calling the witch's spirit into it and then it seals shut, storing her life force for eternity. This box was found deep within a witch's cave still clutched in her hand, although many have tried no one has been able to separate the two.

Ok, so it is a box made from dominoes but I thought it was a pretty cool idea. It takes eight dominoes and Amazing Goop adhesive to assemble the box. I took henna colored Ancient Page ink and distressed the edges, then using a brown and tan fine point bic marker I did hash marks all around the edges of each domino and then inked over them with the henna.

For the lid I stamped Secret Force in runes from Third Coast RS in henna, colored with the hash marks and distressed over it all.

Next came the heat gun to dry and set the ink, then I took a Versa Dazzle Champagne inkpad and wet aside of the box and sprinkled a bit of UTEE (just a sugaring, it gives it a cool bubbly texture). Heat set the ep and move on to the next side. I did the same thing with the lid. Afterward I hit the whole thing with some Rust-oleum crystal enamel and allowed it to dry.

On the under side of the lid I positioned some sticky flat back pearls to keep it from sliding around too much.

You can pick up the hands from a party supply store, they have them listed on amazon.com. Just attached it with the goop and you have a spooky prop.

Today I have an altered domino to share. It was inspired by the 365Spiders blog, if you haven't stumbled across this blog I highly recommend it, there is some awesome work there!

and I even have some instructions for you today.

Stamp Credit: Spider Web - Smeared Ink

Supplies:

KrystalKraft Black ink pad

Ranger Eggplant Alcohol Ink

Dore Gold Leafing

Rusto-leum Crystal Clear Spray Enamel

Jewelry Bale

Amazing Goop Adhesive

Chain-like Material

Directions:

Lightly sand the domino and clean.

Stamp the web and briefly dry with heat gun.

Lightly dab the purple alcohol ink over the web.

Edge the domino with double sided tape and apply gold leafing.

Seal the domino with the clear enamel and allow to dry.

Create a beaded spider with directions from http://www.instructables.com/id/Beaded-Spider-Tutorial/

Attach the jewelry bale and spider to the domino with the adhesive.

Hang from a fancy fiber, ribbon, or other preferred chain material to wear.

Day 22 already, wow, how time flies. First off I need to apologize to the other bloggers/hoppers, I kind of fell off the boat last weekend with comments. But I hope to get back into the swing of things for a little while at least. I just became overwhelmed with all the things I had to do lately.

Now for today's share, my card features paper from Memory Box, a stamp from Sweet Pea Stamps Terra Bidlespacher collection and the ribbon is like Little Black Dress or something like that. I am entering this into the Repeat Impressions DCC1012 Designer’s Choice Challenge.

Well sort of, I happened to come across this neat witch image in my stash, no name on it, and an bag of old Halloween themed papers and embellies. Put it all together with my go to layout and here we are. It isn't much but hey I made it!

Wow, Day 19 already! Well I am still moping along, today I have an odd little ATC to share. ATCs are a bit hard for me because they usually look like a part of something bigger, like focal image of card. So I always feel like they are unfinished, but I honestly couldn't think putting this on a card or anything else for that matter, lol.

The stamps are all Smeared Ink, the paper is Basic Grey and I used some Tattered Angels Chalkboard Black around the image with a touch of some Emerald mist from some other co. that slips my mind. And the green color is a copic, can't live without using them every day.

A note to Susan, I dug around in my inbox and found the receipt for the digi papers (which by the way I am not a big fan of either) and found they are actually from My Memories and are FREE! I have gotten some from Crafty Chaos too and they are really neat, especially when you need something more along the goth line. hths! You know I always heard Chinese food was made with chihuahuas, lol, or at least the strays out behind the restaurant, so I guess cats wouldn't be immune either. But you know I have heard in other countries it isn't unusual to find people that eat dogs, cats and even rats ;-) ttfn!

Yesterday I was asked where I shop for papers, next to acquiring rubber is adding paper to my stash - which, if stacked would be really close to hitting the ceiling....anyway, my favorite place to get papers from is a site called Part Time Sally. They offer a bunch of different lines, most of them are last years, I guess, but they have some awesome specials at times and if you sign up for the weekly newsletter occasionally there are coupons included.

Another site I like is Cosmo Cricket's Miss Paper Jane. They offer a lot of their older lines and occasionally have some swell sales.

If you enjoy Webster's Pages lovely offerings, check out their website and join either their group, I think it is ning...anyway they have been offering grab bags of their goodies which include papers and embellishments for a pretty good price.

Two other groups on yahoo to check out are Collage Stuff and Frantic Stamper. Join the groups for newsletters, Collage Stuff offers free shipping occasionally and members only specials. Frantic Stamper has grab bags of stuff that they discount occasionally for group members and her boxes are fantastic - stuff to the gills.

Taking a break from the cute little trick or treaters, I thought I would share this door hanging. The image is from Third Coast RS. Isn't it fantastic? I just love it.

Here we are at Day 9, I don't know about anyone else but I am pretty surprised I have made it this far! Up until a couple days ago, the cards I had posted I actually made back in August when the hop was first announced and I knew I would need a big head start since I tend to wait until the last minute to do anything....no I am at that point, so wish me luck!

Today I am mixing it up a bit - these are a pair of ATCs. The papers are Basic Grey Eerie, Stamps are from VivaLasVegas Stamps (yes, I have other stamps besides just Sweet Peas ;-), they were colored with copics. I added the broom to the floor the cat is sitting on so he could fly, the hat on the witch was also done freehand, not the most perfect, but I think they work pretty well.

Btw, I call the set Beauty and the Beast.

I have had a few comments or questions rather about a few of my projects over the past few days. First is yesterday's card, a few deets:
The image is colored with copics, the papers are from Memory Box and the doily frame is an acetate doily I don't know who makes them but they come in packs with several...thinking webster's pages, bobunny or ? The flowers are prima and the ribbon is real, lol.

Next question was the size of the Day 4's card is 8x8.

Day 2 I believe I did use a sketch for that one, I find a lot of inspiration on the Feline Playful blog and if you scroll through their history you will find all kinds of wonderful sketches. This one is from about a month or so ago.

deconstructing jen challenge

today I would like to share a card featuring a ching chou kuik image titled The Koi from Sweet Pea Stamps. The sketch is the challenge at deconstructing jen, papers are 7gypsies and Basic Grey, the image was colored with copics and I used Goosebumps on the card front for a bit of texture, masking the center of the image before spraying. While the texture was still wet, I sprinkled some aqua glitter from Sprinkle and Sparkle for a little extra bling.

Today I would like to share a card featuring the Mahina Mermaid from Third Coast Rubber Stamps. I was recently given the opportunity to be a guest designer and this is one of the gorgeous images I was given to create with. I picked the image out because of the unusual beauty - there are several other images that coordinate with it and it shows up under the tarot category. See the astrological sign? I didn't noticed it when I initially requested the image and was pleasantly surprised it was there when I started coloring it as I am a Pisces.

Today I have a couple cards to share with you, they were both created with Sweet Pea Stamps images from the Brigid Ashwood's Phunky Phairies line of stamps.

This first card features the Zam, isn't he wild - he looks like he could really take you for a ride. The detail on these images is great, you can see all sorts of coins and goodies flying from his pockets. This was the inspiration for the embellishments.

This one was entered into the I{heart} to stamp sketch challenge.

My second card today is Remy, also find on the same plate as Zam. Remy is a bit sweeter, still carries a 'stuffy' as my youngest calls them. He just looks like the kid who picks up stuff of the ground all the time and stuffs it all into his pockets. So why not add embellishments that pick up on the same theme?

Hi, today I have a card using one of Sweet Pea Stamps - Karen Middleton's new images from Plate #161. It is a great plate for patriotic cards and scrap pages but it isn't boxed in as you can see below, just change the colors up and this versatile image can work great on just about any type of card.

The image was colored with copics, the yellow paper and flower are prima and the purple just some scraps I found in my stash, flourish comes from bobunny and buttons are BG. I hope you have enjoyed your visit today - I love hearing or at least seeing your comments! ttfn, jennifer

Today I have a few fun things to share - first I was honored with a position on the Third Coast Rubber Stamps Painters Design Team. It is going to be a wonderful spot - all I do is color! How awesome is that? Of course that is why I love to stamp anyway - I get to connect with my inner child. I invite you to check out all the lovely, eclectic and fun images they have to offer!

Faux Painted Canvas Tutorial

Welcome to the Smeared and Smudge Member Blog Hop. Today we are featuring techniques - mine is a faux painted canvas. My stamps are from Sweet Pea Stamps. A while back, I saw a class mentioned in a newsletter for a faux canvas, so not being any where near the location I did a quick search and found this version of the technique...to be honest I can't recall where I found it but then if you had to take your head off to sleep at night I would be in a lot of trouble!

Now my technique is a bit hard to capture with a camera but fairly easy to talk you through. For starters, you will need a stamped, colored image, dimensional adhesive such as Diamond Glaze, 3D Crystal Lacquer or Crystal Effects, I think Glossy Accents will work also and a toothbrush.

Working on a protected, clean surface, take your dimensional adhesive and lightly add streaks to the stamped image working from top to bottom. Try not to have an large globs.

Once you have layered streaks all across the image, take your toothbrush and run the bristles in the same direction as the adhesive, working across the image - you will want the texture the bristles are making. The layer of adhesive will be thin and will dry fairly quickly.

Once the first layer is dry, if you wish you can add another layer in the same direction. But if you are happy with the coverage then you will add streaks of dimensional glue from side to side. Once more, spread the glue with the toothbrush also from side to side and allow to dry once more.

After the image is dry, use it to create your own little work of art!

I hope you have enjoyed seeing this technique enough to give it a try, it really gives the image the wonderful brushstrokes you would find on a canvas along with lots of shine. Challenge card for Class Act and CPS

Today I would like to share a challenge entry with you. The stamp is from Class Act - their challenge is to create a masculine card using fabric and stitching (including the faux type). So I picked the wonderful papers from a BoBunny stack that reminds me of the fabric of a vintage man's shirt for the papers and did a little faux stitch around the sentiment. The sketch comes from Card Positioning Systems. Hope you have enjoyed seeing it!
